BoutTime Patch Notes: Version 2.4
BoutTime Patch Notes: Version 2.4
This update focuses on a major overhaul of the championship logic, animation enhancements, and significant code refactoring for improved stability and maintainability.
✨ New Features & UI Enhancements
Round Counter: The main screen now features a display below the "VS" panel that shows the scheduled number of rounds for the upcoming bout. This updates automatically based on the matchup type (non-title, local, major, or undisputed).
"Title to the Victor" Animation: At the conclusion of a championship match, the central title announcement will now visually animate towards the winner's card, reinforcing the transfer of the belt. (this may be bugged but i am done fighting with it for now. expect a fix soon once i figure out what is going on)
Selective Title Fade: During the pre-fight introduction, only the titles that are actually being contested will fade away. This applies to both defending champions and challengers who are putting their own belts on the line.
⚙️ Gameplay & Logic Changes
Critical Hit Overhaul:
The previous static water recovery on a critical hit has been replaced with a more dynamic system.
Upon landing a critical hit, there is now a 50% chance to trigger a bonus effect.
If triggered, the fighter recovers a random amount of water up to 50.
Energized State: If the water recovery would push the fighter's total above 100, their water is capped at 100, and they instead receive a +1 "to hit" bonus for the remainder of the round.
High-Stakes Title Matches:
Major Champions Risk Their Belts: When a Major Champion (Heavyweight or Inter-Genre) challenges the Undisputed Champion and loses, they will now forfeit their Major title, which will become vacant.
Local Champions Risk Their Belts: Similarly, when a Local Champion challenges for a Major Title and loses, their Local title will become vacant.
Expanded Title Contention:
Local Champions are now eligible to challenge for occupied Major Titles (Heavyweight or Inter-Genre).
When two Local Champions are matched up, they can now fight for a vacant Major Title if one is available.
🔧 Bug Fixes & Refactoring
Code Architecture:
The application's state management has been significantly refactored. A single, unified roster object now manages all champion data, and a structured dom object organizes all UI element selections. This improves performance and makes the code easier to maintain.
Championship Logic Fixes:
Fixed a critical bug where an uninvolved Major Champion would incorrectly lose their title when the Undisputed Champion was defeated. Now, only the relevant titles are exchanged or vacated.
Fixed a logic error that incorrectly allowed a local champion to defend their title against another local champion. The rules now correctly prioritize a match for a vacant Major title in this scenario.
Animation & Display Fixes:
Restored the full "Ladies and Gentleman..." introduction line to the pre-fight ticker.
Fixed a visual bug where the winner's new title would not appear above their character in the fight modal after the victory animation. The title now correctly displays on the winner.
The pre-fight ticker animation speed has been slightly increased for a more dynamic presentation.
Fixed a bug where the Undisputed Champion's title would not appear above their head during the pre-fight sequence in the fight modal.
General Stability: Resolved several ReferenceError crashes by ensuring all functions and variables are declared before being called, particularly within the fight sequence logic.
