BoutTime Patch Notes: Version 2.6 - The "Contender" Update
This update is all about resilience and creating a more dynamic, engaging fight simulation. We've completely overhauled the backend systems for API calls to make them smarter and more reliable, and we've added new mechanics to the fight simulation to allow for more dramatic comebacks!
⚙️ System & API Enhancements
- New! Multi-Proxy Fetch System: The application no longer relies on a single service to contact the Steam API. We now have a pool of multiple public CORS proxies. The system will intelligently rotate through them to find one that works, dramatically increasing the reliability of all API-related features.
- New! "Winner-Stays, Loser-Rotates" API Logic: The "Example Steam Universe" population feature is now much smarter.
- If a proxy works, the system will continue to use it for the next champion on the list.
- If a proxy fails, its personal failure count increases, and the system immediately tries the next proxy in the list for the current champion.
- New! Per-Proxy "Three Strikes" Rule: Each proxy in our pool is now monitored individually. If any single proxy fails three times, it is temporarily retired from the rotation, and the system will rely on the remaining services. This prevents a single bad proxy from halting the entire process.
- New! Multi-Pass Retry System: The "Example Steam Universe" fetch now makes up to three full passes on the list of champions. Any games that fail to load on the first pass are automatically added to a queue for a second attempt (after a 10-second delay), and if needed, a third and final attempt.
- New! API Progress Window: When populating the Steam Universe, a new modal window will now appear, showing you the real-time status of each API call, including which proxy is being used and whether the attempt was a success or failure.
🥊 Fight Simulation Balancing
- "Throw in the Towel" Mechanic Updated: A fighter's corner is now more cautious. They will now stop the fight if a fighter is below 5 health and their water is at or below 5% (previously this only triggered at 0% water), making stamina management even more critical.
- New! "Second Wind" Mechanic: Fighters can now dig deep for a late-game comeback! At the end of each round's healing phase, any fighter with less than 10% water has a 25% chance to get a "second wind," instantly recovering 25 water and getting back in the fight.
A Note on Public APIs
The Steam API features rely on free, public CORS proxy services to function. While the new system is much more resilient, these services can sometimes be slow or temporarily unavailable. If you experience issues with the "Example Steam Universe" feature, please be patient, as the system will automatically retry. If problems persist, the service may be experiencing a wider outage.
